We press on, stubbornly. Working on the new creation L.A.V.A., in which—together with Roberto Zappalà of the leading company Compagnia Zappalà Danza—we reckon with the volcano we are dancing on.
We sprint into January with beloved classics. One last time, unapologetically, we hold up a mirror to who we can be, must be, or want to be in WE, the SHAMELESS. We share our breath in connection with you in WE, the BREATH, and in ROCCO/ROCCA, through struggle, we reveal brotherhood at its core.
Dance can offer optimism. Beyond ruthless struggles for power and gain, we play and we dance—as a defining trait of our humanity.

In the making: L.A.V.A.
— Meeting beneath the loomig Volcano
A new collaboration, a new production. Between Amsterdam and Catania —a city shaped by the presence of Mount Etna— encounters take place between ICK and Compagnia Zappalà Danza. For years, the worlds of the two companies have intersected; now that contact becomes fluid. A shared desire to create together does not lead to fusion, but to a movement in which difference, friction, and proximity take shape. L.A.V.A. emerges where two choreographic languages meet like flowing magma: slow, inescapable, and transforming.

Dramaturgy for Devices
— Meeting AHK IDLab
Robots are becoming an increasingly integral part of our lives—in healthcare, in our homes and gardens, and as tools for education and work. They can perform simple tasks, but are poorly skilled when it comes to interaction and communication. Dramaturgy for Devices develops these skills in collaboration with theatre and dance makers.
ICK is part of this long-term collaboration with international partners from the fields of theatre and robotics. On 22 January, the team will come together again at AHK IDLab. Follow the developments via the website of D4D.

— Input for scientific research through consortia
The Dutch Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) is the principal funder of scientific research in the Netherlands. Through its grant programmes, it sets the direction of research. Within a consortium, a wide range of partners—such as citizens, scientists, and non-profit organisations—can jointly contribute to solutions for scientific and societal challenges.
Different thematic routes are defined across multiple domains, and through these consortia, artistic methods are increasingly brought into focus as well. Since 2024, Suzan Tunca has been a member of the Route Arts steering committee on behalf of ICK.

— Trevoga at hell’s doorstep
On 20 & 21 February you can see them in Frascati: Perhaps the most exciting contemporary collective of emerging dance makers: Trevoga dives with its new performance Xx-63 into a world of desire, seduction, and the dark side of contemporary escapism. Their explosive commentary on the contemporary condition, once again results in a scintillating performance, where dance, image, theatre, and electronic soundscapes merge into a dystopian dreamscape.

A Pelo
— The body as battlefield of queer desire
The performance by Fernando Troya is titled A Pelo—literally: on the hair, on bare skin, as in riding without a saddle, without protection or preparation. Troya exposes himself to the utmost, drawing on a dark period from his past, and has created a performance not meant to please you, but to take hold of you. In May the performance can be seen in Düsseldorf en Zagreb.
