One & Another
F.A.S.L. explores the power and vulnerability of the “in-between”: the moment of silence, transition and potential. The Arabic word fasl means pause, transition and separation, and serves as the starting point for a choreographic investigation into what happens between question and answer, between breath and movement, and between two bodies that almost touch.
Unfolding across seven choreographic landscapes, F.A.S.L. does not tell a linear story but creates a dynamic terrain of appearance and disappearance, of isolation and collective rhythm. Movements hesitate, repeat or pass from body to body, forging a shared vocabulary that is never fixed. The soundscape is equally layered: compositions from different worlds intersect, stall and respond to one another.
F.A.S.L. is a co-production of ICK Dans Amsterdam and the Ballet de l’Opéra de Tunis. The first residency took place in April–May 2025 in Tunis, followed by a second in September–October 2025 in Amsterdam, where the ICK ensemble and Tunisian dancers further developed the physical language of F.A.S.L.. A third residency in November 2025 returns to Tunis to integrate all perspectives.
The world premiere at the end of November 2025 at the Cité de la Culture in Tunis reveals how this collaboration balances the visible and the invisible, isolation and encounter. In the space between movements, no single answer emerges—only the interplay of one & another.
