Between corporeal and verbal languaging

Movement Research Labs

THE BODY HAS TO BE CLEAR AND THE WORDS HAVE TO BE RIGHT.

About Movement Research Lab

With the Movement Research Labs, ICK provides the opportunity for choreographers and dancers to deep dive into the research development of their dance and movement language and for peer-to-peer exchange. The Movement Research Labs are a unique context for dance research developed by ICK in collaboration with Scott deLahunta with input, guidance and feedback from a shared background of longstanding and internationally recognized expertise in dance (an)notation, documentation, knowledge transfer and publication.  One of the key principles of the Labs is the development of “skilful entanglement” between corporeal and verbal languaging, leaving space for the ineffable while simultaneously fine tuning participants’ abilities to name, describe and transmit insights, experiences and danced expression. This process is intended to feed the continuous development of increasingly specific, conscious and idiosyncratic articulations of the dancing body.
