Fluxing: where movement patterns emerge, are interrupted, and contradiction becomes a way of moving.

Following the success of the last three We Dance Together workshop series by Elisa Zuppini, a new series of seven workshops will begin on Monday, November 2, 2026, at ICK Dans Amsterdam in Space for Dance Art, led by choreographer, writer, and researcher Edward Lloyd.

Under the guidance of various renowned artists and makers, you can take part in these dance workshops on seven consecutive Mondays. This workshop series is designed and curated for dance enthusiasts, young and old, with or without dance experience.
Are you an amateur or (semi-)professional, and does the idea of dancing together excite you? Join us and come move and dance at Space for Dance Art.

We Dance Together is suitable for all dance enthusiasts aged 15 and above (no upper limit!).

About the workshop

‘Fluxing’ is a movement practice that approaches improvisation as a way of sustaining contradiction.

The practice explores how a body can allow a movement pattern to emerge, then interrupt it before it settles. Through five choreographic operations: destabilisation, disorientation, glitching, contamination and observation, dancers investigate how movement patterns can be unsettled without being fully undone, and how contradictory movement vocabularies and histories can bleed into one another.
Within the practice, dancers attend to how agency is negotiated in the body, and explore the tension between surrender and resistance.

About Edward Lloyd

Edward Lloyd is a choreographer, writer and researcher based in Amsterdam.
Their research has been published in APRIA: Platform for Research Interventions of the Arts (ArtEZ), and their choreographic work has been presented at ImPulsTanz Vienna International Dance Festival (AT), Marres House for Contemporary Culture (NL) and Veem House for Performance (NL).
Edward has performed and developed work with Marina Abramović, LA(HORDE), Ula Sickle, Boris Acket, and Jennifer Tee, among others. Their most sustained collaboration has been with Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten at ICK Dans Amsterdam, where they worked as both a dancer and a researcher.
They have taught at several institutions including Amsterdam University of the Arts, ArtEZ University of the Arts, Fontys Academy of the Arts, Royal Academy of Art The Hague, and University of St. Gallen.
Edward is currently collaborating as a performer with Amsterdam-based choreographers Clarinde Wesselink and Elisa Zuppini.

What days and times:
The workshop takes place on Monday evenings (7:30 PM – 9:00 PM) on November 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, December 7 and 14. The final session offers the opportunity for a public presentation.
