Children of Zeus

Guest Artists

Premiere on May 12 at Theater Bellevue.

Two queer performers discover the healing power of water within a mythical swamp. Here, they manifest their freedom, detached from the oppressive patriarchal forces of Zeus. Old paradigms begin to dissolve — though not without obstacles. Through their transformative powers, the children gradually bring forth a fluid world in which the balance between humanity and nature is restored.

The knowledge of their ancestors can be found in breath, water, and rhythm, and is rediscovered through the body and the installation itself. The friction between forgotten histories and the rise of the technological human forms an important starting point for their journey through this mythical swamp.

Dance maker Robbeduz (they/them) and visual artist Valentina Gal (she/her) jointly create an installation composed of water and sculptures. Their collaboration emerged from a shared fascination with water, which here functions as a metaphor for fluidity and healing forces. Through this installation, they explore how a sustainable relationship with nature can emerge, including through the use of natural materials and recycling.
