In FUTURE VOICES, Nicole Beutler Projects presents the makers of the future. This season, Lucinda Wessels takes part in a double bill exploring identity in motion. Wessels’ multidisciplinary dance duet Fluid Figures makes a powerful case against putting people into boxes. Together, the makers explore the constructed nature of identity and the fluidity of gender.
Fluid Figures is a physical and layered performance in which dance, sound, and performance merge into a hybrid whole. From a queer, bicultural perspective, Lucinda Wessels embarks on an inner journey in search of identity. The dancers embody different roles and perspectives, creating a dynamic in which contrast and connection are simultaneously palpable. Fluid Figures challenges audiences to let go of fixed boundaries and experience opposites as part of a single whole.
Alongside Lucinda Wessels, the double bill features Isle of Eros, a post-porn pop concert by Timo Tembuyser. Fluid Figures is co-produced by ICK.
