Put on your dancing shoes and join an open class at ICK Dans Amsterdam – Space for Dance Art. Choose between Double Skin/Double Mind or We Dance Together, and take a look around the media library as well.

— Open classes at ICK
At ICK’s Space for Dance Art, you’ll be introduced to dance and movement in an accessible way, together with other local residents. The morning is dedicated to open dance classes for anyone aged 16 and over. No experience is needed, so you can simply join in. Good to know: the classes are taught in English.

During Double Skin/Double Mind, you’ll explore a method developed by choreographers Pieter C. Scholten and Emio Greco. You’ll investigate the language and logic of your own body and develop greater awareness of movement, imagination, and the choices you make. In We Dance Together, a guest artist from ICK will introduce you to their own working methods and creative process.

The media library will also be open all morning for visitors. You can browse publications on contemporary dance, view dance photography, study, work, or chat about what you’ve just experienced.

— About ICK Dans Amsterdam – Space for Dance Art
ICK’s Space for Dance Art was founded in 2009 by Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten as a space for contemporary dance. The company creates international productions, supports emerging makers, and is involved in education and research. Since 2021, ICK has been based in Space for Dance Art, a venue for performances, workshops, debates, and encounters, set in the distinctive Westbeat architecture. This allows residents of Nieuw-West to come into contact with dance and movement in an accessible way.

— Collaboration with Blauwe Zone Festival
For this edition, 24 uur Nieuw-West is collaborating with Het Blauwe Zone Festival, a local arts and culture festival in Nieuw-West. The 24 uur Nieuw-West programme includes around 20 activities from Het Blauwe Zone Festival.
