On Thursday, September 11, Space for Dance Art on the Rijnlandlaan in Amsterdam will open its doors for a festive celebration. Under the title House in Motion, the home of ICK Dans Amsterdam celebrates its fifth anniversary, and everyone is welcome: audiences, neighbors, makers, partners, and all curious minds who want to get to know this special house for contemporary dance.

An open house for dance and encounter
In five years, Space for Dance Art has grown into a place where dance is made, researched, shared, and experienced. In the striking building in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, professional dancers, young makers, students, researchers, visitors, and partners come together. Rehearsals and performances take place, classes are taught and learning happens, people watch and participate.

Program during House in Motion
During House in Motion, Space for Dance Art invites visitors to experience the building up close. An open and festive moment: the doors open, there is an opportunity to view the building and the studios, to meet each other during a drinks reception, and visitors can join WE, Together, ICK’s public rehearsal format in which you as a visitor get a behind-the-scenes look at the ensembles.

‘Space for Dance Art is not a closed house for professionals, but a place where movement is shared,’ says Director and Choreographer Pieter C. Scholten. ‘Here, dancers and makers work daily on the future of dance, but visitors, neighbors, and partners can also experience that world up close in one of our weekly open programs.’
