What happens when we move together? Through the lens of Nietzsche who saw dancing as the ultimate act of freedom and creativity, this program explores what dancing means for us as individuals, and what it creates when we become a group.
Philosophers are like musicians: they don’t dance. Except for Friedrich Nietzsche, the dancing philosopher. Although he was reportedly caught only once by his landlady dancing ecstatically in his room, Nietzsche frequently used dance as a metaphor for embracing life in all its richness. Amor fati — love your fate! What happens to us when we dance together? How does the I resolve into a we? And what remains of the I in this we? This we discuss with correspondent Lynn Berger, who sees dance as one of the oldest social tools of humanity and philosopher and Nietzsche expert Frank Chouraqui and ICK Dans Amsterdam.
