How can individual movement signatures be mapped, recognised and predicted?
How can a dancing dialogue with the HAMLET Generative AI tools: Dance Style Analysis and Generation Enabler and the Music-to-Movement Enabler lead to new ways of inhabiting and discovering our bodies through movement, of relating to each other and to the tangibly physical and intangible, intuitively intelligible latent spaces into which we are immersed? The workshop invites participants to dance dialogues with(out) AI.
The workshop will be documented through audio/photo/video. The documentation will be used for research and communication of the project HAMLET. Participants’s information will be processed according to GDPR. By registering, the participants consent to be documented.
This workshop is a collaboration between ICK Dans Amsterdam (NL) and IJAD Dance Company (GB).

IJAD is a community-builder in performing arts and tech, inviting artists, researchers, technologists, schools and universities to join creative innovation. We support artists to create hybrid performances that push boundaries of audience immersion and interaction. Combining VR, multi-camera live streaming and the latest emerging technologies with performing arts, we create new forms of expression and invite audiences to actively participate in the creation and outcomes of performances.
HAMLET is Horizon Europe project (Grant Agreement No 101178362). HAMLET stands for “Human-centred generative Ai fraMework for culturaL industriEs’ digital Transition (HAMLET)”. In the eyes of Big Techs, creatives are users of generative AI tools. Yet in HAMLET, we take a different approach: artists and creatives are creators of AI—they closely collaborate with technologists to create AI tools that can contribute meaningfully to their practices, while addressing ethical and environmental concerns. This workshop grows from the Horizon Europe Project HAMLET’s Pilot 3: Archetype Alchemy (dance) and Pilot 4: “Echoes Inspire, Words Ignite, Bodies Dance” (theatre). Pilot 3 is led by ICK Dans Amsterdam, in collaboration with Centre of Excellence for Research & Innovation in Cyprus (CYENS), Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH). Pilot 4 is led by IJAD Dance, in collaboration with CYENS and The Audience Agency. Workshop coordination by Waag Futurelab, technical support by AUTH and CYENS.
