On 12 March, ICK Dans Amsterdam will be present with a presentation of Fernando Troya’s A PELO during the Brainwash Night “safe and sound”. Alongside performers, philosophers, writers, and researchers engaging with themes such as protection, conflict, autonomy, and connectedness, Troya adapts his acclaimed performance especially for a club setting.
A PELO (Spanish for “bare,” “unprotected”) creates a space in which the safety of two performers is not guaranteed but negotiated moment by moment through proximity, resistance, dependency, and exhaustion. The duet reveals how strategies of defence/control, withdrawal, and dominance can quietly reproduce the very forms of violence they seek to avoid.
