Collectief MAMM

Guest Artists

In May the new performance RUIM by Collectief MAMM will tour various Dutch cities.

A reviewer had already found themselves short of adjectives: blazing musicality, infectious energy, virtuosity in movement, and understated humour—it may well become a festival favourite. On this evening at Meervaart, the audience wholeheartedly confirmed that impression.

The ongoing housing crisis is driving many to the brink of madness. We cram ourselves into 7 m², take temporary sublets, share homes with strangers, wait endlessly, and accumulate infinite housing allocation points.
Four twenty-somethings search for a way through a world on the verge of collapse: they slide, fall, wrestle, climb, and squeeze themselves between crooked walls. Through raw acrobatics and boundless imagination, they challenge themselves to carve out space within constricting frameworks—without foothold, at the expense of or alongside one another.

RUIM is an acrobatic and intimate dance performance about creativity within a system at a standstill. A celebration of resilience and the endless search for what “home” truly means.

RUIM is a coproduction with ICK Dans Amsterdam.
