What happens when we move together? Through the lens of Nietzsche, who saw dance as the ultimate act of freedom and creativity, this programme explores what dancing means to us as individuals and what it creates when we become a group.

Philosophers are like musicians: they don’t dance. Except for Friedrich Nietzsche, the dancing philosopher. Although he is said to have been caught by his landlady dancing ecstatically in his room only once, Nietzsche often used dance as a metaphor for embracing life in all its richness. Amor fati — love your fate! What happens to us when we dance together? How does the I dissolve into a WE? And what remains of the I within this WE? These are questions we explore with journalist Lynn Berger, who writes for, among others, De Correspondent and sees dance as one of humanity’s oldest social tools, philosopher and Nietzsche expert Frank Chouraqui, and ICK Dans Amsterdam.
