VISION is a choreographic project that departs from these seemingly simple questions to explore how we inhabit and perceive the world around us. The performers, Emmanuel Coutris, Saïd Gharbi, Nathalie Milon and Marie La Flâme, are dancers, musicians and performers with different forms of visual impairment. Blurred vision, double vision, peripheral vision and blindness become starting points for a shared exploration of space, movement and perception. 

Rather than treating vision as the dominant way through which we orient ourselves, VISION shifts attention towards touch, sound, proximity and collective movement. The work develops a sensory landscape in which performers and visitors alike are invited to navigate differently: not simply by observing, but by listening, sensing and moving alongside one another. 

Created by choreographers and artists Éric Minh Cuong Castaing, Marine Relinger and Aloun Marchal, VISION continues their ongoing engagement with inclusive artistic practices and choreographic forms that bring together different bodies, experiences and ways of perceiving. 

— Research-creation residency
From 11–15 January, a research-creation residency with local artists with visual impairments and workshops for a mixed group of participants will take place at ICK’s Space for Dance Art. On 16 January, the project culminates in an Art & Care Symposium and a performance of VISION featuring the original cast, enriched by contributions from local artists. 

In a world saturated with images and appearances, VISION proposes another way of being together and asks us to reconsider what it means to look.
